As supplements become more synthetic, and more foods are becoming less organic, it is important to take the proper vitamins to ensure our body is getting the supplementation it requires for healthy living. After doing lots of research and taking many things into account, I have chosen to use Standard Process vitamins and minerals for myself, and for my patients. Standard Process is all natural and delivers organic, whole food source vitamins that have been carefully extracted to provide optimal results. Standard Process vitamins are only available through a licensed practitioner. Here’s what we are taking and why you may want to consider them too.
Cataplex (multi)- This multi-vitamin is very important for overall health and function of the many systems the body that are constantly operating
Vitamin D- Vitamin D has enjoyed a lot of publicity lately and is vital for DNA synthesis, or the renewal of DNA structures. DNA is the blue print of our bodies. Adequate amounts of Vitamin D are also very important for bone health and reducing stress. Normally we get vitamin D from the sun, but in colder climates with less sunlight (like here in
Fish Oil (Tuna Oil) - Your brain and nerves are made of omega-3 fatty acids (among other things), which are obtained through fish oil. Fish oil is great for general health, especially in the brain. Kids with ADD/ADHD/Autism do exceptionally well with supplements of this type, as do other brain based conditions.
Vitamin B-Complex- Your body uses Vitamin B in nearly every function occurring at any given time. This is a very important vitamin for brain and nerve function. It also gives you energy and regulates your metabolism.
Co-Q10 (optional) - Co-Q10 serves as the final electron acceptor in the energy processes of the body. What does this mean? We need this vitamin in order to create energy. It also serves as an anti-oxidant.
Powergreens/Eating Healthy (Not optional)- Eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables, preferably 50% uncooked is essential. Eat many different colors of veggies and fruits as they will be vitally important in their contribution of different types of anti-oxidants and phytonutrients. Eat as few carbohydrates (sugars) as possible, and eat more protein. Fats are not the enemy, but moderation is a must.
Water- Attempt to drink four to eight glasses of water per day (depending on body weight), leaning more towards 8 glasses. Your body functions through messages delivered by the nervous system. Nerves use water as a conductor of messages; much like electricity conducts better in water. In order to have proper cell hydration and nerve function, we need H₂O in our system.
Eat Breakfast- Many of us skip this essential part of our day. Let me tell you, it is not something you want to ignore. Eating breakfast feeds your brain the essential nutrients it needs to start your day off right. It balances stress hormones (cortisol) and reduces blood sugar spikes. You will feel less drowsy and won’t need to ingest as much caffeine when your body is functioning with higher metabolism and balance.
Get Adjusted- When you have areas of your spine that are unhealthy, you produce irritation to nerves and reduce feedback, or input, that is necessary for normal brain function. You might feel grumpy, fatigued, depressed, stressed, or a relaxed brain as I like to call it. These problems are often due to nutrition, lack of exercises, or a reduction in spinal health. Your spine is the most important structure of your body, and has many important jobs. It keeps your brain healthy and sends messages to every system in your body. Without it, you would not function. It is the basis of our survival, so keep it healthy; and remember we were only given one of them.
