Migraines
We Can Help
If you've suffered from Migraines, or currently experience them, we have great news. We can help. Dr. Aaron MacArthur received his post-doctoral education in functional neurology and spent a majority of that time studying and treating Migraines. There are those that we cannot help, but we are able to determine that very quickly and work with you to receive help from the appropriate place. However, the majority of our patients obtain great results. What symptoms to look for?
- Pain at the base of the skull
- Pain in the temple region
- Jaw pain
- Neck Pain
- Upper back/shoulder tension
- Poor Posture
- Reduced chest expansion (breathing)
- Pain around the eyes and sinus regions (forehead, cheeks)
- Dizziness/Nausea
- Visual disturbance
Migraines occur when the nerves and blood vessels at the base of the skull are compressed by joints and muscles. This is a result of abnormal biomechanics in the region where the skull and the spine meet.
Migraines also occur due to lack of oxygenation in the blood stream as it is delivered to the head. The actual pain of a migraine occurs when the blood vessels expand beyond their usual diameter, stretching the pain receptors in the arteries. They expand in response to the compression of the arteries at the base of the skull, and like a bag filled with water, the blood is pushed to other blood vessels, often in the back of the skull, temple and sinus regions, hence throbbing pain as the blood vessel dilates and constricts.
Head forward posture and slumped shoulders creates stress on the neck and upper back, forcing your head into extension and further compressing the area at the base of your skull. It also causes compression of the rib cage, inhibiting expansion of the lungs and further reducing oxygen.
How can we cure your Migraines?
- Often times just listening to the patient will point us right where we need to go.
- Locating the area(s) affected. This is often a combination of neck, base of the skull, TMJ, rib, posture and muscle biomechanical abberations.
- Treating you through a combination of advanced chirorpactic and neurological methods to regain normal biomechanics and increase oxygenation in the body, as well as reducing compression at the base of the skull and cervical spine.
