Vertigo

Vertigo is a common condition afflicting many adults nationwide.  It causes a spinning sensation with lightheadedness and nausea. Vertigo is most commonly caused by loosened crystals in the inner ear area known as the vestibular system.  The vestibular system is responsible for assimilating sensory stimuli and movement and helps to keep objects in focus as the body is moving about.  This type of vertigo is known as BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo).  It is very simple to diagnose and treat, often to the surprise of the patient.  The Vestibular system and Cerebellum often require re-training and are done so in subsequent visits.  There are other causes for vertigo and second most common is due to misalignment in the cervical (neck) region.   Other causes can be from viral infections, tumors, etc..  Please visit us at Portland Chiropractic Neurology so we can bring your body back into balance.
